What is a LoRA? LoRAs Explained.
What is a LoRA? LoRAs Explained.
A LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation) is a type of style module you add to an AI model to influence the behavior or appearance of an image. Think of it as a filter with character : it changes not only the colors, but also the mood, style, and sometimes even the anatomy of what you generate.
LoRAs are designed to be lightweight and flexible . You don't have to retrain the entire model—just add a LoRA, set its sensitivity, and voilà: your image gets a new look.
What influences a LoRA?
A LoRA can affect:
- Style : from realistic to cartoonish, from Art Deco to cyberpunk
- Details : such as eyes, hands, clothing texture, ornaments
- Composition : how elements in the image relate to each other
- Color Usage : Some LoRAs steer towards specific palettes
- Anatomy : for example, more correct proportions or expression
You determine how strongly a LoRA participates by means of a weight (for example 0.3 for subtle, +1 for dominant).
Example: DecoPunkFantasy LoRA.
Suppose you use the LoRA: DecoPunkFantasy, which is known for its:
Art Deco flair,
geometric patterns,
and ritual atmosphere .
So, it's crucial which Lora you want to use. It's advisable to figure this out beforehand ( we'll come back to this later on a separate page about the Lora's character) so you have some idea of the Lora's behavior to avoid surprises and being saddled with an unexpected image that will take on a life of its own in the rest of your creations. (I call that: the Creativity Trap)
further setting Scheduler: Euler A
- Fast, expressive sampling
- Good for stylish, sharp images with character
- Works great with low steps (like 40), especially if your composition is already good.
Prompt: (which we use in this example:)
-A regal woman seated on a throne, wearing an emerald gown with gold accents, in a temple with glowing teal columns and a radiant sunburst behind her.
🔹 LoRA on low power (0.3)
- The image remains quite neutral
- You see light geometry in the background
- The woman has realistic features , but with subtle flair
- The colours are slightly richer, but not overly so
👉 Result : an elegant scene with a touch of Deco style, but still natural
🔸 LoRA at high power (+1)
- The entire composition takes on a ritualistic, stylized appearance
- The woman resembles a goddess from an alternative mythology
- The background is full of symmetry, neon lights and ornaments
- The colors are intense: emerald, gold, obsidian, neon
👉 Result : a visual statement — not only beautiful, but also mystical and powerful
Wrapping Up: What to Remember
LoRAs are like visual tuning forks: they set the tone of your image. By wisely choosing which LoRA to use—and how strong—you can create a scene that's subtle or overwhelming. Start small, experiment with the power, and discover how each LoRA tells its own story.
Whether you're creating a realistic portrait or a divine enthronement, LoRAs give you control over style, mood, and symbolism.
without lora,
but only with your model .
Also fun! .

- Prompt 2 – Dominant LoRA (high power)
